I come from a long line of accountants so it was no surprise when I gained my passion for numbers at a young age. As a child, I would sit for hours, with a calculator in hand running around the house adding and subtracting anything that I could find. I was even the kid that would stay after school every day to help tutor my classmates in math. The best part was that I did it not only because I loved math, but I loved helping teach my classmates and helping them improve. So, there was no doubt that I was destined to study accounting and become an accountant! However, I never imagined that I would be a business owner helping so many different people… even children diagnosed with cancer.

After some years of being an accountant I met my husband in his restaurant one sunny day. After many discussions (mostly me being nerdy and telling him about how much I loved what I did) he had asked if I could help him with his books. Unfortunately, he was learning the hard way that by not hiring a professional bookkeeper to help him keep the dollars straight, he spent more time pouring over his financial statements instead of finding ways to grow his business. Me being me, I jumped to the opportunity! It was my passion and I knew that I could help him and his business. So, I took him on as my first client and the rest was history! Through my own adventure as a contracted bookkeeper and helping small business owners throughout my local area I learned that my passion for bookkeeping could do a lot of good for business owners. I was so great at what I do, that I helped my husband maximize his cash flow, have accurate financial statements and even SELL his business to a major investor in Philadelphia. It was a great feeling seeing his smile and knowing that I helped him with my experience, knowledge and dedication to helping him save money and time. That’s when I knew that I had to open my business and help fellow business owners get those same results (especially the smiles). However, I felt that there was something missing… something more that I could do. So, after praying on it (for a pretty long time) I realized what I had to do. I decided to use my gift of numbers and bookkeeping for a greater good and even get my client’s involved. That is the day, I vowed to take every client’s first payment, every year, and donate 50% of it to a children’s cancer treatment research charity, in their name, and even send them the certificate for them to share with their family and friends. Today, my passion of bookkeeping and helping others, has grown into J.R.’s Elite Bookkeeping Services, LLC. I am blessed to say that I cannot decide what I am more excited and proud of, the number of entrepreneurs I have been given the opportunity to help, get to know and work with, or how many children we all are helping together! My client’s and company are making a difference, together, all by using our many different talents… and we are proud of it!!
